Global semiconductor company AMD and HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s new AI enterprise, have announced a landmark investment of up to $10 billion to build a next-generation AI infrastructure ecosystem spanning Saudi Arabia and the US.

Over the next five years, the partnership will deploy 500 MW AMD-based AI computing capacity, creating what the companies describe as one of the world’s most open, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient AI infrastructure.

The AI superstructure built by AMD and HUMAIN will be open by design, accessible at scale, and optimised to power AI workloads across enterprise, start-up and sovereign markets.

Under this deal, the Saudi PIF company will oversee end-to-end delivery, including hyperscale data centre, sustainable power systems, and global fibre interconnects, while AMD will provide the full spectrum of the AMD AI compute portfolio and the AMD ROCm open software ecosystem.

“At AMD, we have a bold vision to enable the future of AI everywhere – bringing open, high-performance computing to every developer, AI start-up and enterprise around the world,” remarked its Chair and CEO Dr Lisa Su.

“Our investment with HUMAIN is a significant milestone in advancing global AI infrastructure. Together, we are building a globally significant AI platform that delivers performance, openness and reach at unprecedented levels,” she stated.

“This is not just another infrastructure play – it’s an open invitation to the world’s innovators,” said Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN. “We are democratising AI at the compute level, ensuring that access to advanced AI is limited only by imagination, not by infrastructure.”

In another development, HUMAIN said it has partnered with Saudi-based DataVolt to develop 100 MW of a 360 MW AI-ready data center at Oxagon, the industrial city on the Red Sea coast in NEOM.

Designed for the demands of next-generation accelerated computing, the facility will provide the physical infrastructure required to deploy AI compute at significant scale (see Data Centres feature, Page 52).
