Industry leaders and government ministers from across the Middle East and Africa are meeting today (October 17) at the Etisalat Academy to share knowledge and research on the impact that ICT development and the Internet is having on regional economies.

The conference, which is entitled 'Driving Development with ICT and the Internet' is being held under the patronage of Minister of Economy Shaikha Lubna Al-Qasimi and attended by high profile government delegations from Egypt and Jordan.

"The objectives of the Etisalat Academy are to help build a talent pool within the region and to share best practise in the field of telecommunications. This event is a case study example of how we are able to deliver against both of these objectives bringing the leading minds from across the region to deliver their knowledge and experience," said general manager Etisalat Academy Dr Doaa Fares.
 
This one-day conference is divided into three sessions, each chaired by a senior industry figure. Amongst the regional panelists attending include:  Dr Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Egypt; Basem Rousan, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Jordan; Salah Salem bin Omair Al Shamsi, President, Abu-Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, UAE; Mohammad Hassan Omran, Chairman at Etisalat; and Dr Salim Al-Shair, Director, Dubai E-Government.- TradeArabia News Service
